Our Adoption Timeline

May 20, 2007-- Sent in application and $100 fee to CHI!
May 20th-June 5th trying to decide which country to adopt from???
June 7th- Made a decision for CHINA & sent in the next papers & $
June-July- Started gathering paperwork, getting passports etc.
Aug. 9th-Sent off forms to Immigration along with fees for fingerprinting.
Aug 20th- Sent off form and $ to CHI to start homestudy process
Aug. 23rd -Traveled to meet with social worker to start homestudy
Sept. 12th 10 AM-Appointment for fingerprinting in St. Loius for Immigration
Sept.12th 2 PM-Appointment with social worker continuing homestudy at our home!!
Sept 27th- Send Rick's birth certificate off to New York to be authenticated
Oct. 12th Homestudy finished, pay CHI for post-placemant reports Start waiting for DCFS to submit to immigration
Oct-17th-Put our requests in on two little girls from waiting child list
Oct- 22nd Names are selected by lottery for each child, we are not selected for either girl.
Oct- 26th- E-mail comes offering Ellie to us!! First couple declined.
Oct. 29th- Tell CHI absolutely YES we want Ellie!!
Nov-14th- Mail off our "Letter of Intent" (why we want to adopt Ellie) Still waiting on DCFS
Dec. 27th- China grants us Pre-approval to adopt Ellie!
Still waiting on DCFS
Jan.2008- Just waiting on DCFS!!
Feb.- DCFS sends our homestudy to immigration!!
March 19th-Had documents certified at Secretary of State
April 3rd-Receive letter from immigration requesting more
documentation.
April 8th-addendum to homestudy sent to immigration
April 21st-I-171H arrives!!
April 22nd- certified,everything mailed to Chinese consulate!
May 8th- papers return from Chinese consulate, copied &
mailed to adoption agency! YAHOO!!!
May 9th- DTC (documents to China)
May 30th- LID!!!
June 30th-amend a letter for Chinese government-typed, signed,noterized, scanned, e-mailed to Beijing .
August 7th-LOA arrives!! Signed, sealed and mailed off again.
August 29th- TA arrives!! Ask for consulate appointment!
Sept. 2nd- Consulate appointments confirmed! Made flight arrangements!

CHINA TRIP ITINERARY

Oct. 2nd...Leave Chicago at 12:33 PM US time
Oct. 3rd...Arrive in Beijing China 3:00 PM. China time
Oct. 4th...Sightsee TianAn Men square , Great Wall
Oct. 5th...Fly to Urumqi in XInjiang province
Oct. 6th...Gotcha Day!!! 10 AM(9 PM Sunday in US)
Oct. 7th...Adoption procedures most of day
Oct. 8th...Sightsee.. Mummy museum & local market
Oct. 9th...Sightsee at Heavenly Lake
Oct.10th..Get adoption paperwork back, passport
Oct.11th..Fly to Guangxhou(GZ)
Oct.12th..Free day, shopping!!!
Oct.13th..Sha Mei's medical exam
Oct.14th..American Consulate appointment
Oct.15th..Consulate again, receive Sha Mei's Visa!
Oct.16th..Fly to Beijing, then on to O'Hare..leave at 4:10 PM
arrive at 4:15 PM on 16th in Chicago!
